This website is about all the things I love. Poetry I was interested in poetry as long as I can remember myself. My favourite children's books were poems. I have always been fascinated by languages and also by music. For me, poetry represents the best of both worlds. Here I want to share some of the poems I have written and also some information about my favourite poets and poetry styles. Writing Writing is something I enjoyed doing as a teenager and something I have recently rediscovered. At present I enjoy writing children's stories. I write under a pseudonym Fenella Shortie. Languages At some point in my life I studied the following languages and here are the reasons why: Russian, because I am Russian; Hungarian, because I spent 7 years of my childhood there; English, because it's beautiful, precise and infinite; Latin, because I was lucky to have it on the University curriculum; Old English, Middle English and Modern English, in order to understand how contemporary English was formed; French, because I love the sensuality of it; Italian, because I love the passion of it; Spanish, because I wanted to read Garcia Lorca in the original. My old home town I was brought up in Moscow which is a very poetic city. My favourite time in Moscow is in winter, when it's gloomy and dark, beautiful in a sombre, Dostoevsky's way. It's a city that poets symbolists and architects would love because different architectural styles of the buildings and the layout of the city deliver the messages by those who created it. The more you know about the history and the culture, the more you get the city. I include links to my favourite restaurants, museums, concert halls in Moscow. My new home town London is officially my favourite city in the world and I am lucky to call it my home town. It's a place where life happens.
