Here is a random selection of my favourite places in London
South Bank Centre
http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk
Southbank Centre's wide-ranging programme: classical & world music, rock & pop, jazz, dance, literature and the visual arts - attracts the most diverse audience of any UK venue. Southbank Centre consists of the Royal Festival Hall (newly reopened after its two-year transformation), The Hayward, Queen Elizabeth Hall (containing the Purcell Room), and the Saison Poetry Library. Great location and great selection of programmes make this centre my favourite place in London.
Wigmore Hall
http://www.wigmore-hall.org.uk
Few years ago I became a friend of Wigmore Hall, because it's a very special venue (gorgeous art nouveau building) and the selection of classical music concerts is great. This is my favourite place for piano concerts.
The Place
http://www.theplace.org.uk
This is a newly discovered place for me, but certainly somewhere I would be visiting on a regular basis going forward. The Place is the UK's premier centre for contemporary dance, uniting training, creation and performance in one unique building.
Tate Modern
http://www.tate.org.uk/modern
Whilst Tate Modern doesn't make it to the top of the list of my favourite Modern Art galleries on the grounds of the content of the gallery, it is still a place that I love because of the building that houses the gallery. Occasionally the gallery does feature stunning art collections, for example a few years ago Frida Kahlo's collection was a real delight.
Saint Martins college
http://www.csm.arts.ac.uk
I've completed a photography course at Saint Martins college and can't say enough what fun it was do pretend (albeit for a short period of time) to be a student at Saint Martins, go to lectures, spend time in the beautiful building which houses the College and feel part of the artistic community. Yum!
Central Saint Martins provides specialist education and research in the fields of fine art, fashion & textiles, film, video and photography, graphics & communication design, three dimensional design, theatre & performance and interdisciplinary art & design. They have opportunities for study from foundation through undergraduate and postgraduate to research degrees; a vibrant research community and a large short course programme.
Royal Opera House
http://www.roh.org.uk
A fabulous venue for opera and ballet. For me, it's a special place because it holds memories of legendary performances and performers that sang, danced and created there.
British Museum
http://www.britishmuseum.org
This place doesn't need my introduction; stunning building and marvellous collections.
Curzon cinema
http://www.curzoncinemas.com
I've discovered Curzon recently; it's a selection of cinemas across London, great place to watch European films
